 At 102 pm est, doppler radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms with a history of producing hurricane force winds in excess of 70 mph, along with downing numerous trees. these storms were located along a line extending from 8 miles northeast of mocksville to 6 miles northeast of kannapolis to 11 miles east of rock hill, moving northeast at 85 mph. locations impacted include, uptown charlotte, huntersville, kannapolis, downtown concord, monroe, salisbury, mocksville, central charlotte, south charlotte and southwest charlotte. a tornado watch remains in effect until 700 pm est for central north carolina and central south carolina.
